Monocacy Aqueduct, C&O Canal, Dickerson, MD
Corman started work on this project to stabilize the Monocacy Aqueduct, awarded by the National Park Service, US Department of the Interior, in November 2002, with completion scheduled for spring of 2004. The project consists of a complete structural rehabilitation and the addition of a structural slab in the canal prism. The historic aqueduct's extremely dilapidated condition has earned it status as one of the 11 most endangered historic structures listed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The 512 foot long structure, with its seven stone arch spans, is considered one of the most significant engineering marvels of its type and time in the United States.
