Key Challenges & Project Details
- Project was part of a four-year improvement to the town’s busiest street
- Included the section of roadway considered a gateway into the city and features a new roundabout and replica of the former Cape Henlopen Lighthouse
- Installed storm drain, reconstructed the roadway and maintained access for the businesses and residences on Rehoboth Avenue
- Scope also included sidewalks, pavers, crosswalks, curbs, signing, pavement marking, lighting, signalization, utility relocations and underground conduits, landscaping, roadway milling/overlay, widening and inlet adjustments
- Utility underground conduits included a new duct bank system for primary/secondary electrical system connections and a Verizon duct bank system for primary/ secondary telecommunication system connections to all affected commercial and residential buildings
- Corman completed the project by Memorial Day—the official start of tourist season in Rehoboth Beach—on time, on budget and under extreme weather conditions
