Key Challenges & Project Details
- Main Street is a highly-visible, heavily-congested corridor encompassing small businesses, vehicular/pedestrian traffic and accommodates the Harford County Government Center and Courthouse
- Project was divided into three design phases and six traffic phases
- Streetscape consists of hard-surface replacements including over 41,000 SF concrete sidewalk, 12,500 SF brick pavers, 6,300 LF curb and gutter, driveway aprons and storefront entrances
- Utility improvements included replacement of 2,500 LF of 12″ water main and service laterals, installation of 1,900 LF of reinforced concrete pipe and up to 84″ diameter manholes to facilitate closed storm-drainage system and relocation of existing 2″ gas mains
- Project also included street/pedestrian lighting, traffic signalization, landscaping, full-depth roadway paving and traffic maintenance
- Positive public outreach included project information flyers, establishment of a project telephone line, and public town meetings
